Islands Adventures

Explore two historically famous islands in the Lyttelton Harbour area. Both Ripapa and Quail Islands have unique historical significance to both Christchurch and New Zealand. Ripapa Island Historical Reserve was once the site of a Maori pa, before becoming a Fort and eventually being home to the famous prisoner, Count Felix Von Luckner. Quail Island was originally used as a quarantine station, it later became the training ground for legendary Antarctica explorers Scott and Shackleton. Today it serves as a great walking destination.
